The Attorney General of Florida is not messing around. Although I wonder how far he will push this issue.
The Seminole Tribe of Florida must stop Class III gaming at its casinos now that a 2007 compact signed between Gov. Charlie Crist and the tribe is no longer valid.
State Attorney General Bill McCollum sent a letter to former U.S. Attorney Philip N. Hogen, chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission in Washington, asking him to put an end to Class III gaming activities including banked card games and Class III slot machines at casinos including the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa and a similar operation in Hollywood, as well as five other casinos in Florida.

Vegas just got a lot bigger. Construction at CityCenter in Vegas appear to be nearing an end.
Construction workers building CityCenter on the Las Vegas Strip have topped off the complex’s centerpiece casino-resort, the second of six high-rises for the project.
Officials for MGM Mirage Inc., which has partnered with Dubai’s government investment fund Dubai World in building the $9.1 billion complex, say the 61-story, 4,000-room Aria Resort & Casino has taken 29 months to build so far.
MGM Mirage says the tower will be fully enclosed by December.
In addition to Aria, the 76-acre site is also expected to include boutique hotels, condominiums and a 500,000 square-foot retail and entertainment center.

Hoping to reinvigorate a stalled campaign, a Las Vegas developer announced Tuesday it will lead the referendum drive for a casino in Oxford County and spend $100 million to make it a reality if state voters give their approval in November.

Jerry Brown the California Attorney General sided with 50 tribal groups in opposition to new state regulation of casinos in California.
When representatives of about 50 Indian tribes gathered with state regulators recently, everyone in the room knew that nearly all of the tribes were about to vote against a set of casino security standards sought by the state.
The surprise came when Attorney General Jerry Brown’s emissary stood with the powerful gaming bands and also put up a vote against the standards drafted by the attorney general’s regulatory partner, the California Gambling Control Commission.

Penn Gamings plans to manage a Kansas Casino were dropped earlier this week after they reevaluated the location and competition in the area.
The only company to show an interest in running a state-owned casino in Cherokee County has dropped its plans, leaving southeast Kansas without anything to show for its long support for gambling.
Penn National Gaming Inc. said Thursday that its proposed casino in Cherokee County could not compete with a casino so close to the state line in Oklahoma that its parking lot is in Kansas. That venture, operated by the Quapaw Tribe, opened this summer.

You would like to think all casinos are bad. But in the case of Southern Californias Casinos I tend to think they are a plus because truthfully they give back to the community where they exist.
– If there’s one true thing about casinos, it’s that they all feel alike. Walk through that big smoked-glass door and you know where you are in an instant. The casino floor, where the money is won and lost, could be just about anywhere. Day is indistinguishable from night. Digital beeps drone incessantly, and the rat-tat-tat of coins on metal remind losers that somebody else is winning.
Some Indian casinos are as simple as a gaming hall with a restaurant; others are complete resorts. Some tribes spend their profits on their members, providing attractive homes, building schools and community centers, surfacing roads, installing water-reclamation plants and paying for health insurance and college scholarships.

Check out the Romero Marketing Awards shows signs of suprise. Santa Ana Star Casino has a great website as well. One of the best casino websites I have personally seen so it is no suprise to me that this casino wins some awards.
The Santa Ana Star Casino has snagged seven Romero Marketing Awards for excellence in casino marketing.
The casino received the awards at the annual Casino Marketing Conference in Las Vegas, Nev. It was the only casino from New Mexico to be nominated and receive the honors.
Santa Ana competed in the large casino category against some of the best known casino companies in the country, including Harrah’s, Barona Valley Resort and others. It picked up two Diamond Awards for its public relations campaign, “This is MY Casino,” and for the Web site campaign, “Star@Home.” It earned a Gold Award for the “YOUR Say, YOUR Way” campaign, as well as two Silver Awards for the Web site campaign, “Virtual Drawing,” and the e-mail campaign, “Star Rewards Prize Notifications.”

Seriously your odds of winning at the casino this weekend is like the odds of someone finding Bigfoot.

Of course some folks say they have found Bigfoot, you can say you won at the Casino too. Although if you are headed to the casino you might want to take some lucky charms along.

Could Casino Stocks take you to the next level of stock investment during this economic down turn. I tend to think economic downturns are good for casino stock as they are undervalued during these times but are extremely resilient.
Casino stocks were trading higher Tuesday, after MGM Mirage’s Las Vegas results fared better than the bloodletting that many expected and the company announces financing commitments for its newest project.
The entire gambling sector has been battered this year on fears that the economic slowdown is set to ravage profits at casino operators, especially those with a heavy focus in Las Vegas, such as MGM.
So far this year, results at MGM’s Vegas casino are down but still manageable. Visitors continue to flock to the city but only at lower room rates. And once there, guests tend to be spending less.
In the second quarter, MGM’s revenue per available room at its Las Vegas Strip casinos fell 5% from a year ago as rates fell, but occupancy remained high at 97% (off from 98% last year).
The company’s Bellagio Casino — which some consider Vegas’ most luxurious destination — reported its highest-ever quarterly hotel revenue.
